Just a quick note to introduce myself. I recently took 2 'male' khaki campbells in as rescues. The guy I got them from had hatched too many males and 'wanted rid' of them. Even I could see from the moment I collected them that one looked very much like a female. Being in Wales, I named them Daffyd & Dewi and a couple of months after taking them in. Dewi laid 2 eggs... confirming my suspicions about gender. She's only laid one other since then, which actually suits me fine cos I'm really not keen on eggs. They are so cute and give me many laughs watching them foraging in the back garden. They both seem very heavy on the mallard side looks wise but I'm just happy that I saved them from ending up as the farmer's dinner. Daffyd is the darker one and Dewi, naturally, is the light coloured one.
