Hi everyone! I started a thread awhile ago about my ducks and I thought one of them might be a female and sure enough she is! She started laying a couple days ago. I got her first egg Wednesday night, and I have three so far, so she's given me basically one a day. The first egg I noticed easily in her nest; it was very neatly laid in the middle. The next two weren't so easy to find. It looked like her nest wasn't as neat and the eggs were more hiddne. Could she be getting upset that I keep taking her eggs? I really don't want her to become uneasy about me taking them. I want her to be happy! I thought about putting a white rock or a golfball in her nest to resemble an egg. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I doubt she is upset yet, now if she decides to go broody she will be upset and let you know it, but I still take their eggs if I don't want them to brood.and hatch ducklings, to me being careful not to bring more duckling into the world than we need or can find homes for it very important. Congrats on the eggs, they are good eating and for baking. and if i haven't said it before

Okay, she doesn't seemed very broody. Each egg has been cold like she hasn't been sitting on it. Yes, I do not want any ducklings right now! Is there any special way to cook duck eggs, like for scrambled eggs or boiled eggs? I plan on baking with them a lot. Is there anything special about baking with duck eggs? Thanks for your reply!

There was a post earlier today, How to Cook Duck Eggs, with a web-link to a good article on cooking duck eggs.
