Hi I'm Kirsty and I'm brand new to chickens. I'm 23, from New Plymouth, New Zealand and I'm a journalist here.

I got chickens because I wasn't allowed a kitten and now I'm completely addicted. My boyfriend loves them too even though he thinks I'm mad for giving them names. And even though they've completely destroyed his garden

We've had our three barred rocks for three months now and they're getting extremely plump. I can't wait for them to start laying eggs.
