Kickerikiii

View attachment 1490173 Hello Everyone.
Even though I’m not new to poultry, I’m new here on BYC.
Been coming accross this forum just about every time I researched something chicken. I’ve found lots of info here, so:
I figured it’s time to join.

I won’t be overly active here,
As working, single mama with a 5 year old and a mini-farm, that doesn’t leave much time for much else.

After several years without chicken, my kiddo insisted on getting a baby chick at the local feed store.
Of course you can’t have just one!
And out of 2 pet chicken, which grew up on the couch watching paw patrol,
became over the next three years a full grown flock of mixed chicken of about 45 +/- (depending on how many hens are hatching eggs/chicks, and how many get “lost”.)
Several are free roaming, roosting high up in a tree, and three distinctive breeds, each in its own large, covered pen to keep them pure.
These include ameraucanas, black copper marans, and ajam cemanis.
The roaming flock is under the guidance of our Rooster “Shiny”, of unknown origin.
He is gentle and takes super care of his girls.
Which are a mixture of a buff Orpington, a barred rock (which we bought as black star), a couple backyard chicken someone gave us, 2 Dixie Rainbows, 2 Astralorps (that constantly go broody)
and a variety of their offspring. Most have names, and all come running from every direction when they see us. (Gotta close the door, or they come in!)

Amidst all the chicken, there are mingling, several guineas, three different breeds of ducks, two breeds of geese, three dairy goats, two “meat” goats, two horses, four dogs, a cat,
and ...
Well, to make it short, just about the only things we don’t have are chinchillas and hogs.
So, that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
:frow :jumpy :welcome
