We usually only take our kids to family friendly restaurants, but I expect PERFECT behavior from them or they're in BIG trouble. We also enforce good table manners at the dinner table at home.

Depends on the restruant and the kids.

My two have gone to some 4 star places while visiting thier grandparents, since i'm thier parent it's my job to keep them in line. I keep my purse with a bag of small things to keep them busy, note pads for drawing, pencils, legos. However i've also sat next to the kids who were climbing all over the booth, having fits and thier parents weren't trying to stop them.

Well, since most kids don't sit still, keep their voices down, and have good manners, they annoy me. However, well behaved kids are fine with me. I really, really hate it when a kid in the booth next to me keeps leaning over and staring at me and the parents thinks it's cute. It's not.

As long as they are well behaved, it's no biggie. Even if they make noise, it's fine. If they are running around like wild animals...that's when I get annoyed.

I sometimes take my kids into nice restaurants and they do fine. Of course, they are in their 20's and 30's. Expensive and quiet, sometimes, but usually don't take them to candle-lit ones, I will admit. That's for Mom and me.

Actually I agree. Young ones do not belong in "nice" restaurants. A good part of the price is atmosphere and young kids mess that up.
