Kids in restaurants...

If they have been taught manners from an early age and can control their monkey tendencies, then fine. Otherwise take the little darlings to Mickey Ds.
Same applies for walmart or anywhere else in public.
The older I get, the less maternal hormones I have, the less I like kids.

my thoughts, if you can't control your children, don't take them out in public. my sister has 4 children and they are almost the worst kids i've ever met. i hate going out in public with them because they don't behave civil at all and it's embarrassing to me. she has one, benjamin, he is the worst kid i have ever met. if he doesn't get his way he will be the worst little brat. i don't think a lot of people parent their children anymore. i think they are just "friends" with their kids, which is a bad idea when it comes time for dicipline and learning how to act in public.

i hate loud screaming kids!!!

That's cuz men revert back to childhood at age 53 (my DH's age). Didn't you get the memo?

but why not?

Just last week my DD and I had a mom and DD day and for dinner we dressed up, went to a nice dinner, we drank apple juice out of wine glasses and had a great time.

My dd was very well behaved and respectful to everyone

I don't mind them a bit as long as they are reasonably well behaved. I don't expect them to be completely silent the whole time they are there, but neither do I appreciate any sort of screaming, running around, etc. My kids are often complemented when we are out because they are generally well-behaved. When they were younger, if there was any screaming or crying for more than a minute, we would take them outside. I don't however, like the practice of allowing kids to watch movies at the table just to keep them quiet either... we've been seeing that alot lately, sometimes they don't even wear headphones or keep the volume low making the noise from the movie worse than it would be from the kid

My husband is the most childish and silly in public places! We were in a crowded place waiting to be seated and he looks over at me and says loudly "No I don't wanna take my pants down!"

Nuthin but trouble... but he makes me laugh. he got that line off some movie.

Anyone under 18 that can't mind their manners. I am typically referring to kids between 3-5 years old. 5 year olds know better, the parents do nothing. 3 year olds don't and the parents do nothing.

Well, then I guess I would be considered a "child". I just wasn't sure if you were talking about toddlers, or everyone under 18.

My parents have always taught us to be very polite and quiet. Especially in public. My brothers open doors for us, and one of my brothers even stacks the dishes and organizes everything on the table before we leave to make it eaiser for the waiter/waitress.

We do go to nice resturants such as Olive Garden every once in a while. I can remember doing that when I was 6. I don't really know if I screamed or something of the like when I was littler. But I highly doubt it. Of course I must of once or twice, but my parents did an awesome job teaching us to respect others and be polite at home, so in public it was not anything hard. I am just saying I don't think anyone should make a blanket statement such as "NO kids should EVER be allowed in a fancy resturant!".

I am pretty sure that statement meant the under 5 bunch. I happen to agree. Like I said, if I am paying $100 for a meal, I sure don't want screaming children around.
