Kids Trader Joe's eggs hatched! - Update on Joey on post #147

I was thinking the opposite. If the big stores were aware and the word got published in the media, maybe these would no longer be available in the stores. Some customers might be totally groused out that the eggs they are buying could do this. Then inquisitive city kids ( and grown up kids) couldn't do this anymore just for the fun or discovery.

Yes, they look just like little Joey all fluffy and yellow.

Where did you get Dot's egg? I was hoping to find some brown eggs to incubate which is why I got the Whole food's ones but since they arent hatching I would like to try to find another source. Dot sounds pretty cute too!

I got Dot in a box a Nutri-Fresh Fertile eggs by Chino Valley Ranchers. I bought the box at a store similar to Whole Foods, called Spouts, in Rossmor/ Seal Beach area. They don't restock that often, so I went back about 5 or 6 days til I found fresh enough ones. He came out of a box of 6 day old eggs. I checked Henry's and they didn't have any.
Here is a picture of Dot

I went to Sprouts the other day, no luck! Yesterday I was out shopping and went to a Henry's I havent been to before, even though the one I normally go to doesnt have fertile eggs I figured I would check anyhow and I found the Chino Valley Nutri Fresh Feritle eggs. I now have 2 doz. 9 day old brown eggs going into the incubator. I hope I get a few to hatch!

You have to post pics as your babies grow up and feather in.

Here is Joey at 2 weeks old. These were taken on Feb. 16th.

S/he doesn't have much comb development so far. I am a little more hopeful too that Joey could be a pullet. I just don't have any experience sexing chicks. If there is a better shot I should take if someone could tell this young, two weeks, let me know and I'll try to get one uploaded. I can see tiny new feathers developing under the fuzzy feathers on Joey's neck. They just look like pins so far. The wings are feathered as nicely as the Buff Orpington's, even a little further along.

Cutiepieacres, which Henry's did you find the Nurti-fresh eggs at? I only checked the one in Fullerton on Harbor Blvd. and Orangethorpe.

We have a control dozen eggs in the incubator right now. They are cage free brown eggs from Hickman's Family Farms. They are not labeled fertile, so we aren't expecting anything to happen, but it is for the science project. We also stuck another box of TJ's fertile eggs. He needs more stats. to support the hypothosis.

Look at how fast shes growing! I hope she is a she.

I am down in San Diego I found them at the La Mesa Henry's but the Santee Henry's did not have them, I even asked but I just got a weird look.

Suuure you need more stats, its just the addiction of trying to hatch store bought eggs dragging you in, lol! Ok so maybe you really do need more, but isnt it just fun anyways to pull a box of eggs off the refrigerator shelf in the store bring them home and in 21 days have fluffy little chicks.
