Things that taste like mango are icky. No exceptions.

I was going to ask if you'd ever had one that was ripe from the tree, but it sounds like you just don't like mango like I don't like mustard.

I can't remember if Bones is a cilantro soaper too or not.
I wonder if the soapers are the ones that don't like mangoes.

I have tried quite a few fresh mangos (though not just picked fresh) as well as various mango flavored things (mostly from Indian restaurants). It really is one of those sorts things that I just do not care for. I still buy one from time to time though. For my spoiled pets who love them
