I became intrigued by kikiriki and serama chickens so bought some hatching eggs hoping for maybe a couple to make it. I hatched 10 thriving kikiriki chicks and 6 seramas. They are the cutest birds and so far very docile. My kikirikis are 8 weeks old and spunky. Thought I would share pics I want to bring them in worried about the colder weather wondering if anyone keeps them inside and what their setup is?

Thank you I just added location. I live in Tennessee. My serama's are still inside they are only 4 weeks. I know it is still mild weather here, but don't know if I should bring the kikirikis in my garage for this first winter?

I raise silkies, and we heat their coop to 40F. They'd be fine below zero for a short stint, but I'd rather keep their water and eggs from freezing and want them more comfortable. They lay all winter, too, just a bit less.

A friend of mine raises seramas and keeps them in a huge heated building that has a run off one end so they can go out if they wish.
I know Tennessee doesn't usually get below freezing, and those breeds could tolerate it for a day or two, but I think it's when it gets like up here, where it's below freezing all winter that it's harder on them. You might want to have a Plan B in your garage for if the temps start dipping.

Thank you I think that's what I will do have a setup ready just in case
