Kiki's found horse eggs—experiment Round 2

I have a 1k lumen flashlight. I haven't tried candling eggs with it - I just used a little key ring LED light. It worked! I did dig out a small Maglite for the next batch of eggs, though. It's only 200-something lumens, but it's much brighter than the first one I used. If that doesn't work, I can always go grab the big flashlight.

I have a 1200 lumen flashlight, last night I used my phone flashlight. Am currently watching someone place a prosthetic beak on a swan on PBS waiting for it to get dark, then I will try to candle and hopefully take pictures that I can show on this site.

No pictures, was really hard to see much more with the stronger light. Did see veins on one egg, most are just large black, some irregular shapes. Some are larger black shapes than others. Will just have to wait 10 more days and see what hatches, I think the eggs are just too dark brown. I thought that was great until Kiki started talking about candling and Miss Badness didn't want to sit on eggs in her new broody box on the first day. Those seem to be the ones that are smaller for the most part, so may take a few more days to hatch. IDK
I guess I will just have to wait to see what and how many I get!

Based on the chick growth chart that I just checked they look like some are 11 days, some 12 days , some maybe 13 days. I put the eggs under the hens Wednesday night a week ago, so counting, today should be day 12 (Wednesday night til Sunday night) Am I counting wrong?

I did my peeking mid day while broody was taking her break!

I use that one in the brooding room.
For the henhouse, I carry a 2000 lumen flashlight with a foam tube attached to the end. I also use a six section portion of a paper egg carton. Set the eggs in the carton and use the light on the big end of the eggs.
That will free up a hand to hold your camera.

My eggs are too dark to candle during the day. Need an area that is very dark in order to candle and have a chance of seeing anything.

We use an app called hatchabatch... It starts at day 1, so my day count is +1. It all goes out thw window when the flufff balls come out!
