Kiki's found horse eggs—experiment Round 2

I'll talk to my dad. He'd be able to help me brainstorm and build. I'm thinking a Styrofoam option is easiest.

You can get a free styrofoam box from a pharmacy (refrigerated pharmaceuticals are sent in them) or a pet store (tropical fish and plants are sent in them). Possibly a local fish or meat market. Digital thermostats can be bought for around $10-12. Almost everybody has old table lamps that can be repurposed, as well as old picture frames (for the glass). If you do a forced air, you can get a used computer fan and a 12V phone charger. Add some MacGuyver ingenuity and supplies, and you're in business.

I have a quick question.
Using this egg as an example:

Notice how the air cell is lower down on the left side of the egg.
Which side of this egg would I lay down on the floor of the bator?

The left side down or lay it down on the right side?

Does that make sense?

I don’t think it matters. The chick will figure it out.

It looks neat. The only thing I worry about is keeping an eye on the temperature. I know a regular light bulb has to be turned on and off A LOT of times throughout the day to keep the temp steady. I think you could hatch eggs in a pot, a box, a bowl...anything as long as you have a thermometer.
we found out that you had to check and adjust temp very frequently when we had the one egg that had pipped and hen had left the nest. Spent the better part of the day adjusting temp for the little guy to hatch and fluff up, then had to with for night fall to put him under mom. LOL Very labor intensive, don't know if I would want to do this for 21 days. LOL :th

Lay the egg down so that the side where the air cell is the biggest is up. That is where the chick will internally pip. If it has already internally pipped. lay it down so that the internal pip is up.
