Kiki's found horse eggs—experiment Round 2

View attachment 1397555 wish I could have cropped this so it would be easier to see, we let the 2 moms and their chicks out together for about 45 minutes today, while the other 4 adult hens were locked up. It went fairly well and we will do this again tomorrow. The chicks got along better than the moms. The moms are still very protective. One let out an extremely loud, shrill scream, we looked up and saw a hawk. WIll try to get better pictures tomorrow, was afraid to get too close, didn't want to scare them.

Glad to hear the babies are happy! It's been raining all day here :p
We are in a horrible drought here so rain is good (even if babies don’t like it). Wish it had lasted longer though!

Here is a pic from yesterday. The girls look lovely and are just starting to get their crests! :ya Little boy just looks kinda awkward Lol. At least his mother loves him ;)

Cream Legbars? I'm guessing that because of the color of the pullets and the barring of the cockerel. Plus the mention of crests.

Yes! The first ones I have ever owned :love I had no rooster so I had to buy eggs for my broody and I really wanted colored egg layers. Plus Cream Legbars are so cute and funny looking!

LOL my little nephews came to visit and insisted on naming them for me: Chickadee, Peep...and Rooster  :idunno

So jealous!! I'm waiting to hear back from a BYC member on a quote for shipping 3wk old CCL pullets. I have my eyes set on this breed. Thankfully, there is also an NPIP Certified CCL breeder about 1.5hrs from here in WI. So I have options.
