Kiki's found horse eggs—experiment Round 2

So jealous!! I'm waiting to hear back from a BYC member on a quote for shipping 3wk old CCL pullets. I have my eyes set on this breed. Thankfully, there is also an NPIP Certified CCL breeder about 1.5hrs from here in WI. So I have options.

I got super lucky and was able to buy my hatchings eggs from a local breeder a few weeks before she retired. And I am so glad I did! My little trio are so fun and energetic. I am totally in love. And my momma hen is doing a great job raising them. I am so proud. They are already great little foragers. :love

I really hope you are able to get some very soon!!!! :fl And please, whenever you do get them, post lots and lots of pictures for us!

I plan to :) I just have to convince my parents :lau They want more blue egg layers but don't see the joy and value in having more chickens. Oh man I can't wait until I'm 18. Chickens for days! :woot jk I'll still be living under their roof so

I read all 251 pages this week while having downtime at work ...

Sad to have seen the last horse egg didn't quite make it! But loved the daily candling updates and how well they were doing for so long. And reading a bunch of off topic chatter that jumped back on topic. And chick pictures.

And by the time I've reached the end, the thread died 3 days prior

How many pages is that thread up to now? Has it beat the Squatcher thread yet?

I'm not sure.
I will go look now.

eta. Balut has 705 pages.
No where near the squatchers.

This happened.... it makes me happy.

I got lucky this week!!! My Buff girl who hatched out 10 chicks last fall went broody again. I just took the 11 hatching eggs I have and gave them to her. She was all pancaked out when I lifted the lid to her box but was completely silent until I showed her an egg. She puffed up really big and started making contented broody noises and tucked the egg under her. She let me put the rest of the eggs under her, and she made happy noises the whole time! I’m really hopeful that she’ll hatch them out well. She mothered her last batch until 15 weeks.

We're here. Kiki is right. We'll never let the thread die.
Kiki is also right about the balut thread. It's hilarious! Great wacky bunch of people there. Kiki being the supreme leader of course.:p

Oh I started reading that one too, but saw they were on hold for a bit due to the horse egg experiment ... (and I must say my first reaction to seeing the words "horse egg" was "I am REALLY about to learn something new :lau )...

I told my fiance about the balut thread too...and that I definitely learned what balut was and sort of regretted googling that "breed" of duck :lol: I'd heard of them before, but didn't know exactly what they were called. And now I know.

And now I'll venture back over to that one :pop
