Kiki's Horse Eggs 2 HAVE HATCHED!! 1 left to hatch

I'm dying to remove some of the shell. I'm not going to but geez I want to.

If they aren't hatched or much more zipped by morning I'd be pulling back enough to see the beak is clear

Some would advise waiting longer, but I like checking that much.

It's amazing to see one zip and hatch by itself, so give it a chance!

I intervened in my last hatch, so I am not anti-assistance, but it's really, really tempting to start mucking about before there is any need.

Of course the chick will resolve the whole thing by waiting to hatch until you fall asleep. They have excellent timing in that regard.

Only two chicks I assisted died. And one was 3 weeks after the fact. I had to cull another I helped hatch. I have at least 10 more that lived because I helped.

(It was a duck though.... I still wouldn't do it myself personally. I want only the strong to survive, strong parents for strong chicks though)

Most of my assists have been caused by incubator troubles. The chicks were extra sticky and glued to the shell or malpositioned. They’ve bee. Strong for the most part.
