Thanks. That's kinda what we thought. He spent the night inside and is MUCH better, today - preening for attention and asking for treats (what can I say, I spoil my banty boys!) So, as long as he's eating and drinking and pooing normally, he can go back out with the rest of his buddies?

"The Books" all say that future babies need to be vaccinated. They all note a "double wing prick" but don't elaborate on what that entails or what/where/how to get what to use. What should I look for and do I need an Rx?
Yes, he can go back out, and no, you don't need to vaccinate.
The entire flock will get it either from shed scabs or mosquitos. I don't seek it out ("pox parties") but I'm also not surprised when it crops up in new birds.

If you put it in the coop, you're gonna have lots of frustrated biddies with cracked beaks ... and likely some broken glass!
They have all stopped hopping up on the countertop. In fact they are now all on the same side. No one is hanging out on the other(east) side of the coop any more.

Here's a picture of this property though there's lots more to it.

Here's a giant bamboo

We got maple syrup here too. Now I'm Canadian... :lau :gig
This made me very, VERY sad ...
I am a die-hard maple syrup fanatic. My best friend's husband is from a Vermont maple-syrup farming & production family. every year, for Christmas and birthday, I got a big jug of their best ... and I was in Heaven! Now that Grampy is gone, there's bad blood in the family and my buddy's connection is cut ... hopefully just temporarily, but I'm hoarding my last jug and bottle, just in case.
:fl

Deal with it every year. What about it?
I like it I wish for it every August/September all my young get it and after they are immune for life. We even go to the extreme of giving and taking infected birds to other flocks so they get it and get immune to it. It's not if but when down here
Yes we infect them on purpose. You can waste money on vaccines if you want but that's still not a guarantee and imo a sales gimmick
To me it makes for strong blood
For them to get stuff instead of fragile blood from giving meds and immunizations for everything if in doubt look at any of the pics I put up it quite evident they're going in the right direction
THANK YOU! I've been worried sick, mainly because I couldn't find anything definitive. Now I know why - there ISN'T anything definitive. I just need to deal with this and move on. My guess is that this will be the worst outbreak, simply because it's the first? If we get through this one, we should be okay. It looks like my birds are about to start eating better than I do!
