OUCH! Although, it was cool to see how the mounted police took care of the horses in their unit. Most people don't realize how much livestock lives along that coast - from Galveston Island all the way up through the big cattle farms along the LA coast. Unfortunately we won't hear about all of those losses until after the fact, simply because there is no way to move that many animals quickly ... and no where to move them TO, if we could. Still - people first, otherwise there's no one left to help the critters.
Please be careful - everyone in the path of this monster.

Good idea...as long as hay bales dont crush the house. Can they? I have no idea...we make square bales.
A wet hay bale - of ANY size or shape - weighs exponentially more than a green one - and those are hard enough to lift!

I use the big round ones but throwing one those over each shoulder and carrying them up to the house gets tiresome after a few trips.
NAH! You're not thinkin' this through and working smart. You don't throw the round ones over your shoulder ... they're too big for that, Silly. You roll them ahead of you - one with each hand. Once you get good at that, you rig a sling so you can drag a third behind you, like a wheel. It hooks onto your belt loops.
