I called it "fructose intolerance" only because it's easier to equate it to lactose intolerance, but the proper name is "fructose malabsorption."
It's when the cells in the intestines are not able to digest or absorb fructose properly, and causes much the same symptoms as lactose intolerance.

"Fructose intolerance," on the other hand, is a rare genetic condition where the body lacks the enzyme aldolase B, which is needed to break down fructose in some crucial metabolic pathways.
It is much more serious and can lead to liver failure or death.
That sounds like a tough one! So - a question for you - Is the allergy triggered by natural fructose, like you'd find in fresh fruit or is it more the added fructose syrup that seems to be in pretty everything sweetened, these days?

It's like getting allergy shots, right? Except that they don't make allergy shots for food. That's an observation/reaction diagnosis and therapy is usually simple avoidance. I'm glad you were able to build some tolerance. Peanuts are everywhere, and that definitely lessens your risk factor!
Yeah, when was younger I couldn't walk into a store that had peanuts without getting hives. Anything made in a factory with peanuts I couldn't eat. Never went to restaurants. Now I have about 1 and a half peanuts a day. Actually, now I dont have to do it every day, and I'm not having to have 10 a day, and my numbers are still rapidly going down.
Much better that getting shots too, though it still sucks with not being able to be active for at least 2 hours after my dose. And even after that I'm still careful.

🙃
