How many quail are you planning on keeping? What species?

Coturnix....um...I'm thinking maybe 10ish.

I'm working. Figuring things out as I go.

The whole thing is upside down right now.
Got the hardware cloth cut for the bottom and I found some grill things I'm thinking about using for the sides.

Some of the woods are just there...I have not screwed some in yet.

They had ordered some wrong parts for the car, so I wasted my day, and a trip into town, so I came home and played with the chickens.

Looks great! Be sure to give them a little sandbox for dustbathing and some brush to hide under.

I have the sandbox frame built!
But I am not sure yet if sand or dirt would be better for it...or one of each.
What do you think?

No harm in giving them one of each and letting them choose. Straw is also a good enrichment material, a big heap of it in one corner. Most quail love to hunker down in straw. You can also have fun experimenting with giving them different materials to see what they like to play with and nest in.
