Between Draper and Kadoka, today. The breeze didn’t pick up until 11:00am. We had snow a couple times since we have been here. It melts within a couple days.

The wind's picked up some. I put on my oilskin to put the chickens & turkeys & ducks & geese to bed. Geez! WTH happened to my global warming? 'Bout ready to sue somebody for breach of promise. It didn't use to be so cold here so early, late & so unremitting.

West river, until the last 6-7 years or so, we always had lots of reprieves even in the coldest parts of winter. It was (more often than not) autumn all the way up to winter. I know the east river weather is often more severe than here, but I think I believe the people saying we're moving into a solar minimum.

When I was a kid visiting relations in KA, the old people would talk about how winters were so much colder than 'today' (in the 60s, 70s). When I grew up a bit I started wondering whether they might be right. I'd always thought they enjoyed complaining, or maybe their memories weren't that clear. Turns out, it actually WAS colder back then. Wondering whether we're not headed in that direction now.
