I was fine with guts and lopping off wings and body parts and everything but them seeing their dead friends freaked me out. I even at one point turned the crate around so they couldn’t see and I also had it on the counter behind me instead of next to the sink. I tried that then was like wait no they’d have to actually watch their friends die.

Poor stuffed dear.

I told him to give her a little extra since we are going out of town for awhile and my FIL will just be filling her salad bowl (no bugs). End result: she could barely haul her bloated self back to her tank

I butcher in front of my live birds all the time. If you let them flap around, they will justifiably take that as a predator attack and freak out, but if you keep them duly restrained, it has been my experience that not only do they not care, they will come over and clamour for pieces of the innards as a snack.
