I finally caught up. To give you an idea, I came in around where fried bread was mentioned. Since I hadn't had breakfast yet and I had some bread dough in the 'fridge, I fried some up. It was good!
Who was talking about fried bread?
Oh God I am not reading back.
I don't even want to know.

There was a food conversation going on. I think it was @R2elk who mentioned it? In any case, I fried up a couple of sausage links, then added some olive oil and fried some sourdough. I'd never had fried bread before, but I'd do it again.

I kind of remember talk about beignets.

I have no idea if I made the same kind of fried bread you'd mentioned, but it sounded easy enough that I didn't even look any recipes up. I think I will now just to see what I probably did differently other than using sourdough.
My mother didn't use sourdough. Other than that, it was the same bread dough she used for making loaves and rolls (buns). After they were fried, she would roll them in sugar. If I make it now, I roll it in sucralose. We liked the ones that were barely done in the middle and would gobble them down very fast.

That sounds good too. I often have bread dough in the 'fridge because I'll make a batch, then just tear off pieces and bake them as needed. I never buy bread because I never eat it all before it goes stale. Much better to just make small amounts at a time.

Bed. NOW. No vodka, no Jell-O -- go to sleep.
Uh-oh... she's either distracted, on another thread, or writing a novel....
Meanwhile, the sky is beginning to lighten here....
Ah! She's off, and hopefully off to bed!
Well, good night. I'm going to log off, too... dawn is rising, things are starting to become easily discernible outside my window, so I am going to head to bed, finally. It is about four-thirty....
Well, at least it won't be an all-nighter!
Good night -- morning, whatever -- everyone!
I. Am. Dead.
