Kill by reaching thru wire?

We had this problem-but with a goat. She had her head stuck through the fence (grass is always greener on the other side) and a coyote took her head off. It was horrible. What was worse is one of my kiddos found her. Not long after we bought a donkey. Donkeys ward off coyotes so now we haven't lost anything to a coyote since.

I also placed plywood at the ends of roost before to keep them from being near the fence

That just happened to us. Raccoons. Knocked the pen containing two hens off onto the floor; pulled Gimpy's head through and ripped it off; left the other hen alive. They are terrible as they have no natural predators, really, except us.
