Killer bear!!! Advice needed

Hello....Up North of me people use plywood with lots of nails sticking up around their Coops at night and cabins...Then lean during the day...Also hot wire to keep them away works..Guy I know runs Catahoula bear Dogs...Yikes....Bears are scary...Black or Grizzly?....

Bears are just hella strong! If they want in, nothing will stop them! They can literally rip a coop apart. Rip off doors and roofs. This time of year, they are eating everything in sight to get ready for hibernation. Strong hotwire is gonna be your best bet. Or housing them in your garage or something for the next few weeks, until the bear moves on.

The bears here do not hibernate at all. Too low in elevation and not cold enough, for long enough.
I'm such a big Bear freak...I love them and know lots about them...Yes, in certain areas they don't really seam to hibernate but most will fill up and even sleep off and on during winter...One Grizzly during a warm winter was recorded to only hibernate for 6 weeks...They are amazing Animals.....

I'd contact Fish and Game and let them know you have had a bear attack. This way they can document the event and they will be able to give you advice. With all the wildfires, hurricanes and other events, bears sighting are going to be more common. I'd get me some bear strength pepper spray!

Up here...Fish and Wildlife just say we live in Wildlife areas not the other way around...We have to deal with it..Lots of hush, hush going on....Old guy shot a Bull Moose that was upsetting his Cattle...He is waiting to go to court on those charges....Took his guns....Deal with them but never tell a soul.....

Same here. DNR won't do anything unless a bear has actually caused harm to a human or if it's breaking into houses. And if you've got animal feed around, a vegetable garden, or a shed with a garbage can inside, and you shoot a bear on your property, you can be given a fine for bear baiting.
