Killer Dog - Heartbroken

Sorry, I know this is a story all of you wonderful chicken people like me have heard many times before, but I lost ALL of my babies yesterday. A neighbor's dog came over while I had a family member on watch. I'm trying to make it through my work day without breaking down, but the coworkers I've tried to tell about this look at me like I'm very strange for being so broken up over this. Thank goodness for all of you dear people who I know understand. So, now I guess I'll have to start over, but I've had these chickens for almost 2 years now and it won't be easy...

Yes I've talked to the dog's owner and my understanding is that the dog has been taken away to find a new home...so at least it's cared for. But that of course makes me sad for the dog too, because I understand that was just its nature...so no one wins in this situation.

But thanks for the sympathy! It means a lot to me

I'm with you on everyone thinking your some kind of weirdo for loving your chickens. They can be loved just as much as a dog or cat. I am so sorry to hear about your chickens. I know it must be devastating. Get some chicks, it will make you feel better. I hope you will recover soon.

I suppose I will get some chicks, but as you well know, it's such a commitment. And now of course I worry that I won't be able to protect them either...Ok, now I'm am sounding like some kind of a freak.

But I suppose I will try again come spring...Thanks for all of the encouragement!!
