Last Sunday morning was kinda frantic. I discovered my car had a flat late Saturday night and I had to be @ work early Sunday....car set all week without a problem and gets a flat the night before I have to work!
Anyhow, I didn't want the SO to have to change it when he came in from work at 1 a.m. Sunday morning. It was like 20 degrees outside, so he got up after 3 hours sleep to take me to work. When we went out the door Killer Kitty was runing around like always. I know the bobcat was around somewhere too, cuz I heard him yowling before I got out of bed. When I opened the gate so the SO could back his truck out I thought it was strange that Kitty didn't come running to get up on the gate post for a scratchin', so I looked around real quick, called her, and even checked in the house to make sure she hadn't snuck in. No Kitty. The SO assured me she would show up. We were running late, so I left it at that. Kitty hasn't been seen since. We've talked about all the possible scenarios...she ran off with the bobcat (she was getting more and more used to him being around), she rode in or on the truck to town (highly unlikely, she would occasionally sleep in the bed of the truck, but would always jump out when the truck was started) or she accidently got locked in one of the outbuildings...but that doesn't make sense either cuz I KNOW I saw her when we first went out to the truck. So anyhow, she's gone and I find that I really do miss her
She was 'only' a barn cat, but she was sweet and had a good personality.
I finally gave up hope today that she'll be coming back and fed what little cat food was left in the bag to the dogs (yes, I know it's not good for them but one serving of it won't kill them either and they love cat food). My SO says now that I've fed all her food to the dogs Kitty will show back up, but I doubt it
Can't decide, should I right away try to replace her with another barn cat or should I wait awhile? There are plenty of barn cats to be had, including from a rescue that has some semi-ferals that they are adopting out specifically as barn cats; knowing that they stand little chance of being tamed completely.
What do y'all think?
