My meat chickens were attacked again last night. 7 more dead. Nothing ate. What ever is killing them is doing it for sport :(
We are putting up a heavy fence/wire. Maybe put up our trail cam tonight. Maybe a dog?

So sorry your chickens died. How did whatever did it get in? Were any of the chickens consumed at all? Can you post pictures of your set up so people can post suggestions for improvement?

Many years ago, I had 100 meatbirds killed in one night. They were ALL buried head first with their feet sticking out if the ground. Never discovered the villain, but heard mink or skunk. "Keep your powder dry".

Raccoons around here eat them down to a skeleton, but I have had some killed for sport not sure what done that I never caught them,I put up Nite Guards on each side of my pens and no problems in a year or so.I got them from Northern Tool online for like 18 bucks a piece, its a small solar powered blinking red light.

I didn't have my phone to photograph them. I was so ticked off I don't want to run back up to the house.
The culprit ripped the netting/fence right off the chicken tractor.
Not one single bit of all 7 birds was consumed. All heads intact, food still in crop. Just bitten, maybe shaken (like a dog will do) and left. You can see bite marks. They were scattered all over the field :(
We wanted to put our trail cam up but can't find it.
My husband attached heavier gage wire to the tractor today. Took that man 5 hours in blazing heat. Fingers crossed tonight is uneventful.

Not my photo but this is exactly what I have

Yes the raccoon problem we had earlier this year made a bloody, feathery mess off what they killed of our egg layers. We took care of 4 coons so far.

That is exactly like a dog would do..........the part about breaking in and killing but not eating a bunch of birds and scattering them around.
