I walked out this morning to check on everyone and the first thing I noticed was two dead guinea keets in the pen. The pen sits up about 5 feet off the ground and I couldn't imagine why they died.

Then out of the corner of my eye I saw the killer in the nesting box.
He had eaten one of the guineas and coudln't get back out through the poultry netting on top.

I had to drag him out of there and bash his head in with a board! Made me so mad! I've killed 4 chicken snakes and 2 copperheads in the last two weeks.

How heartbreaking

Thank Goodness our local 10 ft Bullsnakes never come out of the woods, I would never go outside!

I don't know if it's the weather or what, but we have a gazzilion ratsnakes....I love that ya beat it to death with a board....darn things should suffer. I told them if they want eggs that would be fine....but I draw the line at anything wioth down or feathers....I leave an axe in the coop. Their hutzpah amazes me. They eat everything and then just laze around in the coop like they own the place.....Copperheads would scare the crap outta me....aren't they really aggressive?

Quote:Both of the ones I killed were trying to get away when they heard me coming; however, two people within a few miles of me have been bitten by copperheads already this year. The kids get tired of hearing me say "watch for snakes!" every time they go outside.
