Killing Cones

Did you buy one or make one if you use it? And if you made one, what from?

I made mine from a 2 gal. bleach jug~perfect for all sizes of birds and even small turkeys. It has been invaluable and has revolutionized my processing....I love it!

DANG IT!! I think we just threw away like THREE of those!! Grrrrrrrrrrrr..... have to ask hubby if he saved any.

I made mine out of some sheet metal I had. I started by making a pattern out of some thick paper. After I got the shape I wanted, I tranfered shape to sheet metal and pop rivoted it together. I made 3 of them initially, and want to make 3 more before I process my next batch. I mounted them to a freestanding frame made of 2x4's.

Mine are safety cones with the tips cut off.

When we bought our house, they told us their family had chickens here many many years ago. In the shed we found two killing cones and I always joke with DH that we're going to hang them up near the coop to "remind" our pullets to keep laying!

(I'm just kidding, I don't think we'd have the guts to use them anyway!)
