Killing ducks?

I got my first duckling yesterday and my grandpa told me if I hold him/her too much he will die! Is there any truth to this?

No, its an old myth designed to keep kids from playing and being to rough on animals. I'm sure someone will disagree, but I have 6 full grown ducks that i picked up and petted everyday until they were full grown and they are fine.

I share the opinion that because so many kids are rough on animals, that this is a way to protect the animals. It seems to me like something overwhelmed parents said, because they did not have time to train their children how to handle young animals.

I was told once that holding a puppy too much would give it worms. How about that one?!
