I think I have my first broody! But im not sure she was on the nest 1:30 till dark. Then we put her up on the roost, but when we went to grab her she didnt tear my hand up, didnt even care. She did have an egg under her. And now shes back on the nest bright and early......Im so confused is it possible to have a nice broody????

Oh, yes, I've had some sweet broodies, They kinda fussed a little bit, but they didn't do much more than that. Not all broodies try to take your arm off!

No she didnt even fuss just like usual but do you think she was just planning on staying the night on the nest because she didnt get on the roost in time and it was already dark so she couldnt make it up?? Allso I think she was plucking her feathers. There was alot of them in the nest she was in last night.

just went out there again and she made a funny noise when i went to pet her. Like "chhhhuuurrrrrrrrrrr"

That may not work out very well. I have had a couple of Silkies that shared a nest and incubation duties, and that worked out all right. At other times, two or more hens trying to brood the same nest resulted in broken eggs and a poor hatch of the eggs not broken.

I expect you know that hens that are broody don't lay while they are setting.
