Yes, I am new to chickens. This is my first year, but I have been reading about them and planning for them for a long time.

We have 5.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The self-reliance, regenerative, closed loop food production. Great job for our dogs to guard. Entertainment. Beauty.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Listening to music with my partner, gardening, rescuing neglected plants, baking scratch made pie, playing piano, playing/cuddling with my dogs, foraging, deep nutrition, wine tasting, beach time on Lake MI.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My partner and I share two dogs, 5 chicks, numerous houseplants, and a kitchen garden. I have a background in content marketing and health coaching. But am currently working part-time to pursue other passions, e.g. pie making at our local cafe and coffee shop.
