Lol, I was trying to think of something big and scary that could be hurled at them without actually hurting them, maybe knock a few over but not anything serious. A fake predator with low risk of damage.

This is really interesting. I guess this is why it took my brooder raised chicks longer to learn the alarm call than it did for my broody raised chicks. Because the chicks with the chicken mama got the visual cues and so immediately knew what to do.
