on our profile set up it asks what state we are from and then what region...is that the region of that particular state or the region of the country?

Some members, including myself are from larger states, saying you're in CA, when it takes 16 hours to drive across the state, is different than saying Delaware. Also some members are ot state side but have proviences etc they can list those there.

Region is the part of the state you are in. So each level gets more specific:

Country
State
Region (part / area within the state)
