Kind of gross foot problem...have questions.. PICS ADDED

Just one more note - I have done some reading now on bumblefoot and everything I read says that the symptoms are on the bottom of the foot. My chickens didn't have any symptoms on the bottom of the foot. They all had a lump on the TOP of the foot, between the toes, pushed up in the webbing. When that is pushed out, no more symptoms. Definitely nothing on the bottom of the feet.

The staph infection is often contained in a "pod". Once that is removed, ther is usually no bleeding. The "pod" is the "pus". Sometimes it is not contained in a nice neat package and it has to be removed with tweezers.
Sometimes our duck has to go through this. Sometimes not.

The cut or scrape can be anywhere on the foot. The original access point can heal. What happens when it comes through the top of the foot is that the "pod" takes the easiest route and place to grow. The bottom of the foot has continual pressure and if the infection can find an easier place, it will. Hence the zit-like protrusion on the top of the foot.

Hello,

Here are some pictures I took. First is the foot bottom of the foot in question.

Finally, here is the top of the foot. You can see the extra skin between the two toes. It makes a pouch. I am trying to keep the pouch clean from the underside. She is a feather footed light brahma.

I have seen chickens from dirty muddy conditions that get 'crud' stuck between toes, above and below- they end up walking around in little mud/feces mittens. Soak and scrub, get the crud off, keep them on clean & dry bedding- and give them some time- see what they look like in a few weeks. If there is a bumblefoot element- it will show itself. The last comment- scaly leg mite may be contributing. Feather leg breeds always seem to have thicker legs and toes- something to do with the feather shafts under the skin I suppose, but that looks a little extreme. What does the upper shank look like?

Thanks! Here is the upper leg, or part of it. Is that enough to see? I had looked on the legs for mites - I can easily see mites on vents and necks and such, but didn't see any mites on the legs. Are they visible?
