Does the chick inside a blue celadon egg always carry the celadon gene or is the egg just blue because it's parents carried the gene?

It carries the gene. It may not carry both copies of the gene (the father has to carry it too), so it may or may not lay celadon eggs.
Not necessarily no.The eggs I'm hatching are supposed to be 100% true blue layers.... so as long as I keep them separated from my other coturnix they should continue to lay 100% then, right?

Where did you buy them from?
They should if the seller is being completely honest. It's hard to get a pure celadon group, though. Mine produce about 80% celadon layers. The eggs I'm hatching are supposed to be 100% true blue layers.... so as long as I keep them separated from my other coturnix they should continue to lay 100% then, right?
I know all my gals I got from my seller lay proper egg, but I had 3 nonblue eggs that hatched too and I'm not sure if those three ended up staying or escaping so I have to wait until their chicks start laying to know for certain XDThey should if the seller is being completely honest.
