hello.
i am hoping this is where I would post something of this nature. if not, sorry, couldnt figure out where else?
so this has to do with selling my fresh eggs to co-workers.
I sell a some of my eggs to my co-works, and some are great on paying me right there , right away.
others,,, i saw my eggs sitting in the fridge at work, and the person still hasnt paid me.

Its not that i dont like this person, i only sell to close friends etc, but this is the second time, shes done it. I have gently asked for the $2.00 for my dozen eggs. is that so much to ask? kinda like courtesy.
i take alot of care/time/pride in caring for my chickens, for me these are like worth more than a mere $2.00 they should be like $10.00!!! ugh!!
dont know how you all do it? how do you.
i only have 4 laying hens (one passed away a few months ago) so i am only getting 4 a day. so alot of people ask to buy my eggs, but honestly its becomming stressful. like another job!

so when my other 10 start laying, i will have alot of orders to fill.
this is fun to sell them, but when one person kinda ruins it, well i dunno.

thanks for listeing to me!

i like when they come to buy eggs and they buy two dozen and they dont have enough money its like hello if you cant scrape up $4.00 why you stop. irks the heck out of me .

How about giving her a bill? Or a post-it-note on her computer or desk. Maybe tape a small piece of candy to it and that may make you feel like you aren't accusing her of anything. Its kind of like....by the way, you owe me... type of thing. Just an idea.

The only thing I can think of is setting up a chart and when people get eggs they write their names on or YOU write their names on it with paid checked or not checked and the amount. That would keep it in their minds. People are busy with a million things running through their heads and sometimes you could push 2 dollars to the back as a non urgent item. I'm not excusing it just maybe it's not a malicious act. It's good they like the eggs. I've seen on this board that some people wont accept fresh eggs because they think they are icky.

I keep the eggs in my office an no one is allowed to take any until they are paid--we do have I owe yous to but I post them so others see that they owe-LOL..Its works and no one has gone more than a day without paying up!

I sort of have a similar situation. I just started selling eggs a few weeks ago at work, and this one lady wanted 4 dozen for Easter Eggs. She asked how much I wanted for a dozen, and (my mistake), I said "Oh, a few bucks will be OK". Well, she gave me $5 for 4 dozen eggs and smiled at me like she gave me a check for $1,000. I was insulted. So I learned my lesson and now tell people they are $2 a dozen.

I understand that it's frustrating because we know how much work goes into that dozen eggs, and our chickens have to go through great efforts to lay those eggs. Those chickens are our girls!

I don't think non-chicken people can understand how we feel about our chickens and eggs. It really does give me a much greater appreciation for farmers.

What I do at the end of the day is just say "Don't forget your eggs!" It's worked so far. I agree with scarter, maybe that person has a million things on their mind. If they keep "forgetting" them, ask them if they don't need the eggs and then sell those eggs to someone else.

Resell the eggs. Don't bring them for her anymore. Its the truth when I tell people my hens can't keep up with demand so I need cash for feed or I sell to someone else. I am not rude. Always with a smile on my face and a southern girl lilt in my voice.

COD cash only. Otherwise eggs are still for sale. I too cannot stand people who seem to be interested (perhaps just to make you feel good) but have no intentions of buying or eating them. What a waste.
