kinda annoying! re:selling eggs!

I'm with ya on that one. I had a LOT of trouble because of this one girl at work who suddenly decided that she hated me. For what reason I can't even remember why. In fact, the way the cookie crumbled I could blame her for my getting fired and being unemployed for a year.....

Anyway, I'd shrug off the eggs. Forget about the $2 from her. Cut your losses and get out. Just don't mention the eggs to her again, and if she goes out of her way to ask to buy more simply require the money up front - don't make a big deal out of it just require payment like you should from everyone.

I also sell eggs for $2/doz. Someone not far from here sells for $1.50, but I REFUSE to sell for less than $2. Our market just won't pay a whole lot for eggs. I'd never get $3 or 4/doz like I've heard reported from other BYC'ers.

Oh!! I think $2 for half a dozen is great! Good for you! True as someone said, don't make a big deal about this one person and cause a rift, but true, don't sell to these people. It is not fair to the people who buy and pay.
Would $4 for a whole dozen make it easier for you? Less transactions, the people who want get lots. By the way, if I only had 4 layers I would keep nearly all for myself! My husband and I eat eggs nearly every day!
good luck!

For you owners that sell your eggs for $2 a dozen, you are in a different area. I am wondering what you pay for feed? ours is about $12 or 13 with tax in Nova Scotia. Also, the climate is cold in the winter. that plays a role too.

Prices vary for sure: $2 or $4 for a dozen is common. A lady down the street sells $0.50 per egg ($6 a dozen), but most people only buy a couple of dollars worth. I saw one person selling blue/green eggs on Craigslist for $6 for 1/2 dozen

I don't sell eggs, but I have given some away to friends and neighbors when we get too many stored up. I get a little

when my wife gives a dozen eggs to her friends and it leaves us with 3-4 eggs

Try putting the person's name on the egg carton or keep them in your own insulated cooler.

Tell the person that hasn't paid for their eggs: "My chickens are upset that you haven't paid me for their eggs from "X" weeks ago, can we settle up today?

I feed Flock Raiser and it's $14/50# bag. I free range on my yard all day every day though, so they really don't eat a whole whole lot. My feed cost per doz eggs is under $1.
My "problem" right now is that I have 7 layers buying the feed, and 45 birds eating it!!

I have about 35 chicks right now!
