Just had to share this with everyone........so on saturday afternoon, I'm driving down the interstate. There's alot of road construction going on, so the interstate is cut down to one lane and traffic is moving slowly. Well, there were a couple of cars pulled over on the side of the road along with a cop car. There were 2 guys leaning up against a car and I noticed they were staring at something. It was a RACOON in broad daylight!!! It was walking next to the guardrail towards all the people that were on the side of the road. I remember seeing something on here that said if you see a coon in daylight, it's probably rabid. This was about 4:30 if the afternnoon. I don't know what ended up happening but I thought it was kinda freaky..never seen that before!!

any unsusual behavior you should be careful. I have had a few scidder across my yard in daylight, but not often . I did have an possum come up wandering amongst the yard, drooling and coming over to us, hubby shot it. I called animal control to see if they wanted to test, since I was sure this had rabies, they were like , nope not unless it bit someone.
which frustrated me, they need to monitor the rabies population

We had a skunk wander into our yard in BROAD daylight! I ran around like a lunatic. I think it had white on its mouth, but it was swaggering and saw me and still kept walking...
More likely, it had rabies. Out it goes

In some area coons do come out in the daylight if they've got a lack of predators.

Around my place I've only seen two coons in the daylight in nine years and both of them were acting weirdly (for a coon).

It's the unusual behavior that is the key here.
