This was in the Police Log in my little town paper this week:
At 6:33 p.m. Tropper Malek reprorted that a 46 year old woman was backing her 2004 Nissan Quest out of her driveway when she felt that she backed into something, got out of the vehicle, and discovered she'd hit a hen. While she was removing the hen the vehicle rolled backward. The driver's door, which was left open, hit the woman, knocked her down, and dragged her about four feet. The woman sustained only scrapes and bruises. No enforcement action was indicated.
They didn't mention what happened to the hen but this should be a lesson to us all to look for hens prior to backing out of the driveway. I'm only half-kidding - my chickens are in the driveway all the time, lol.
