Kinda OT: Question for Anyone running several Incubators 24/7

we have had a record cold winter here, but I have 3 incys and a sportmans hatcher running , so can feel your pain. I also have 6 homemade water fountain heaters running, . I don't use heat lamps, just regular 100 watt bulbs, .I brood in my basement, but move out to unheated buildings with same 100 watt bulb and covered area to get under at about 3 weeks. I would say on average all the extra load added 30 dollars or so a month to my bill, based on previous years kilo watt load. I am working on a better water system for next year, along with a heated nest box to keep my eggs from freezing. Some days, I would pitch 50 percent of my eggs, and I know that the percent of clears went through the roof , I think that the eggs got cold enough to kill the blastocyst even if they did not crack.

i know LG still airs are 40 watts dont know about the rest

i use 100 watt bulbs fof brooding in house for first 2weeks after that i use 40 watts for brooding in house.

never ever bought red brooder light or flood light.

I've been using rubbermaid 50 gallon bins for up to two weeks old. I cut the lid out and attach stucco wire to it. I just set the lamp on the wire. I'm running 4-150 watt bulbs and two 250 watts and about 10 100 watt bulbs. I didn't even think that those would impact the electricity that much.

I don't know how accurate this is, but I read somewhere that the 250 watt red heat lamps cost about $30. a month to run.

When I was running the GQF hatcher and incubator set our bill went up $100 because it pushed us into the next pricing tier.
I was running 2 100W brooder lamps indoors before and after as well.

It's probably the brooder lamps. They are typically 250-300 watts as compared to most 40 egg incubators only have a 60 watt heating element.
