well 2 nights ago one of MY dogs got out and got 3 of my ee bitties..

......the 2 white ones and a brown 1.........leaving me only 1 brown one..........the sad part is this bittie is not being accepted by the rest of my chickens.........during the day while free ranging she stays about 30-49 yards away, then at night she goes in the pen and will roost by herself so I put her on the roost poles with the others both nights, the first night between two of the the genteles hens and they pecked her and one flew to the higher pole and she moved oved to get away from the other one. last night she was alone and I put her on the pole with about 6-8 inches between her and the others and they did fine.........just hope they warm up to her soon. I have a EE roo coming I guess if they dont Ill have to build another run for them

Sorry for your loss.

From my short experience with mingling flocks, it seems really hard to determine. I hear of real disasters and mayhem with mingling birds of differing ages.

Then there is my crew, we have four 6 wk old bantams, 2 of which are roos and my EE Roo, that is 15 weeks has taken a fancy to the black cochin roo. He sits next to the banty kennel and coos at them. When the little black roo is out supervised with George, the EE Roo, is very gentle and puts ups with the Cochin Roo pecking at his face. The girls however, I am sure would treat the bantys like they treat George - he has no tail feathers and almost didn't have a Pope's nose.

Maybe you will need to get a few more EE bitties?
