Thank you all for sharing your experiences.

I just bought the latest edition of Readers' Digest. I so want to do one of those things where you donate $10 and buy a chicken for a family in, say, Laos. They call the chicken a "substantial income-supporting investment". Awesome.

You never know when somebody close to you, like a neighbor, may need your help and you don't know it. We live paycheck to paycheck, but I have put some of my own groceries back just to help the person in front of me in the checkout lane to be able to buy their groceries.

Once I was going to the library and went to park in the garage. While I was waiting in line to pay for my ticket a lady came up to me and handed me hers. She had paid for an entire days worth of time and told us that when we were finished with it to pass it on to someone else. A huge grin creaped across my face and i thanked her. I will never forget the look on another lady's face when we gave her that ticket. A simple thing like that really made my day, I plan on doing the same thing soon.

I think the $10 chicken donation thing is a fantastic idea. There are also projects like that where for more money of course you can buy a goat or cow for a family so they have a steady supply of milk. A few years ago my DS class took up dondations and bought a few goats for some very needy families!!!

Yep, I thought it was a great project when I thought the ad in the magazine!
I thought buying a chicken would be nice and symbolic seeing as I've been spending so much time on BYC recently

I hope there are ways other than paying over the internet, as I don't have a credit card.

Llamas! That would be a nice.
The organisation doing it here is called "Oxfam Unwrapped". I intend to go into one of the stores soon as see if I can get something
