My 13yo (30lb!) cat still does that with special items ... we've had a christmas bow that I forbid hubby from throwing away that has been the recent target. It's about the only exercise the old Fluffosaurus gets since he doesn't chase my new dog and doesn't often join the two younger (11yo & 9yo) cats when they get into "crackhead" mode and chase each other (or the dog).
