I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to make my knit stitches a little looser. I'm having trouble with my kn2tog stitches
A little more information, please.
Are your knit stitches tighter than your purl stitches? If so, that's quite common, and I tend to do that too. I've found it a lot easier to try to tighten up my purl stitches to match than to loosen the knit.
When changing from knit to purl, the yarn has to go a smidge farther from back to front. In my experience, this bit of slop ends up in the purl stitch, making it looser than the knit. So when I bring the yarn to the front to change from knit to purl, I give the yarn a tiny tug. It took me a while to get the tension right.
I realized the problem when doing K2P2 ribbing. (K1P1 doesn't show the issue as much.) I was finally satisfied when both sides of the ribbing looked the same!
Also, just in case it matters... I carry the yarn in my right hand, grasped between my forefinger and thumb. My mom carried the yarn over her right index finger, over the fingernail, just in front of her big fat knobby arthritic knuckle. Since I didn't have a knuckle like that, I thought I couldn't do it that way, so I held the yarn between my finger and thumb.
