Kobe Chicken (aka giving chickens beer)

Quote:
This is a great point..... we have lots of brew waste left over that goes to the compost... I'd like to find out if anyone has given it to the chickens before??

I give my chickens the left over mash all the time. They love it. There is still enough sugers in it.

Ok for those asking why... Have you seen the belly of daily beer drinkers? Most beer is high in calories and carbs that berry wiess beer has 207 calories and 28 carbs per beer. Coors light has like 170 calories. It will fatten them up. I use it for my Turkeys. May people use the wasted grains from breweries to feed poultry. And many more are fermenting their own feed with water acv and brewers yeast. If the alcohol bothers you grab a non Alcoholic beerlike odouls 70 calories 12 carbs per bottle. :)

I know this thread is ancient, but seeing as how it's been dredged up from the grave, it seems that folks still DO read it. Everyone, please consider not giving your chickens alcoholic beverages (or anything with an alcohol content). Alcohol depresses the functions of their internal organs far more than our own and can be fatal in (relatively) small quantities depending on the alcoholic content. Birds are not mammals. No, a sip probably isn't going to kill your chicken, but it's not doing them any good either.
