Kombucha- anybody making it?

come on fellow Byc members and share your scoby.... just like us gardeners share our plants.. Like I have strawbery plants to give away. as they mutiply so much I did get some kefir grains but the lady was kind but only sent me like 1/4 tsp.. I can barely find them each time I rinse and tranfer to new container....so it really a bust. That why I keep asking for kefir on CL.... Oh hope to find someone to get me some GT classic original Kombucha cant find it in this little town so I can grow my own.. Duh thanks all
I'm going to be making my own using the following, very easy to follow, directions : http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-your-own-kombucha-scoby-cooking-lessons-from-the-kitchn-202596

But NOT the Raw original

yeah found the brand at Meijers and Krogers yesterday when we visited relatives .. BUT NEITHER HAD the " GT's RAW<CLASSIC or ORIGINAL"...
the only ones were flavored kind there like $3.19 or so. Krogers was open till 5pm so only got to shop for 1/2 hour there and Meijers was open 24 hrs. Shopped both before coming back home to small home town....I read it can have 4 or more % alcohol.... so checked out Meiers liquor store too. LOL
ABOVE mentioned video said the "raw" unflavored types is needed
so yall saying yall found the raw Classic ones?????
thanks

You can use the fruit flavored ones. They just have added fruit juice to them. As long as they aren't pasteurized, it's fine.

How much currently are yall paying for fresh ginger by the POUND ?
I am trying to see if its worth having it shipped ?
thanks yall

I ordered my husband a dehydrated scoby from a company. He also got a second from a friend. I never have extras though because we feed them to the livestock, but it was only like $15 for the dry scoby.
I wouldnt call $15 cheap.... I have seen some on Ebay for $5 or so.....
Has anyone tried Ebay and had sucess.. Since we have no generous members on this thread

$15 for a scoby and a guarantee that it will work was worth it. Honestly, if you lived nearby, I'd share, but no way would I ship to someone. It'd be cheaper to buy it than for the cost of shipping, I'm sure.
