I LOVE my Kindle. I have read soooo many good books for free!!!! And a few stinkers that I haven't figured out how to delete.

You have to have wifi or (wireless access) to down load via the websites. It works the same as down loading a file or buying on line. When you first set it up in Barnes and Noble (nook). They set up an account, so anytime you want a book you just down load it to a "library" that's both on line or in your nook. You can archive old books in your on line account to save them. I've got the nook color and love it. I do find that alot of the "free" books are samples and not always a full book. But there are some good ones too. I also check my Face book and stuff through my nook and it has pandora radio etc.. so you can listen to music and read etc.. (it does wear the battery down faster though). The only thing I've had issues with is the typing pad is too sensitive and it may take 10 tries to log into my account.

MFB, I'll PM you later and explain it all to you. I download books by "whispernet" directly into my kindle. Whispernet is amazon's free wi-fi. So basically, I finish one book, sitting in my favorite chair in the living room and immediately download another without ever leavng my chair. Eyes too tired to read? It'll read the books to ya.

I got online, on BYC, last night using the kindle. I was too tired to do much typing on the small keyboard, but that little feature there is going to come in mighty handy when we travel to Florida.

Gritty,
It's amazing how you can be out in a rural area and connect to the whispernet. Here I am squarely between Amazon and Microsoft city. And can I connect to anything? No, Isn't it ironic?

Impy must have wireless in the coop.

Imp- guess I'm going to have to use one of the Starbucks giftcards I have and go have a latte while I download.

Yeah, we're a bunch of high tech rednecks out here.

I had the same issue when I first got the computer and signed up for internet service. 1 year and could only rarely get on-line. And that was with a line directly into the house. After hundreds of calls to tech support(useless) and several techs coming out. Finally one tech told me I was just too far from the signal station in downtown Renton to reliably get on-line. He told me to keep my mouth shut and did something to upgrade my service, been much better since. That's why I only lurked for about 10-11 months before joining BYC.

I have read every book the Koontz has written. Have Breathless waiting on the nightstand now. Except Frankenstein. I don't remember why I skipped over that one. I probably did not want to start a series. I kind of dislike the disjointedness of them. Is it worth a look see?

I'm enjoying it Imp. I'm partway through book three - Dead and Alive.

I enjoy Koontz's twisted sense of humor. Maybe because it fits right in with my own.

ETA: Have you read A Big Little Life? It is Koontz's tribute to his late golden retriever, Trixie. Keith and I really enjoyed that one.
