Mine haven't started laying yet, but should probably about this month I'm assuming. My leghorns and a few games are the only ones laying occasionally, the Buff Leghorns laid "spottily" throughout the winter. All of the rain/storms we've been having then the snow and immediately after nearly 70 degree weather just confuses them a lot I guess. After they start laying well though I do plan on keeping relative track on egg laying, I won't be able to 100% because I plan to hen hatch and that will effect egg laying; I just haven't the money for the Sportsmans' and the Hovabators are a waste of money.Daniel, have you had any luck breeding yours so far? ive been tryin to talk my DW into getting some but she wants to know for sure they lay as well as i have read....
EE's are just Ameraucuana crosses of numerous breeds. She can come any shape, size, or color.
I always just heard they were Ameraucana crosses since Ameraucana's are what hatcheries carry (at least primarily) and list the EE's as. If they carry Ameraucana blood they already are part Araucana anyway right? Ameraucana's are supposedly descendants of the Araucana? No, they are not always Ameraucana crosses. They can also have Araucana blood. Either they will have some Araucana blood, or some Ameraucana blood. I know too much about EEs and Ameraucanas sorry

CS, Will do. I need to get some updated photos soon, it's so rainy here though lately I've just not been able to get out and do a whole lot, did get to worm the birds today though.![]()
God bless,
Daniel.
I knowAmeraucanas have Araucana blood. Araucanas do not. EEs can have Araucana or Ameraucana blood
I am going to start breeding Ameraucanas and they are my favorite breed, so I do a lot of research XD
I know. Research is a good thing (I researched the Kraienkoeppe for years before I was able to obtain them, even own a book written in German that regards them and Orloff), for a long time part of my hobbies were poultry history, I researched every breed I could pretty much (and to a large part still do) including searching foreign texts regarding foreign breeds and translating them into English for my fellow English speaking friends

I've got a link to where most of the info is compiled if you'd like it some time, you may have already found it actually if you look up histories a lot.
God bless,
Daniel.
Well, some were asking so I grabbed a few pics of the three main cockerels I kept back. None of them are perfect, but each one can bring certain qualities to the mix; I like all three of them though. Some nice little birds in looks (to me) and their personalities are awesome.
Cockerel 1.
Cockerel 2
Tails not in the best of shape from being in a smaller pen, but he should be able to be moved back into a larger pen soon once I sell a few birds.
Cockerel 3
All three are walnut combed, red eared, fairly tame (number 1 is for sure, I can walk up to him and pick him up usually pretty easily even on the free range sometimes). All are a little small for the required weight at the moment, but they aren't as far off as some others; they all three also seem to have fairly nice heads when observed in person.
God bless,
Daniel.
