Kraienkoppes from IDEAL Poultry?

They are 9 months old in these pictures. I only have one pair of silver Kraienkoppes left. I sold all my large fowl birds and decided to just keep bantams. Cheaper feed bill that way. I got mine from Ideal last feb.

I ordered 100 chicks of various breeds last april from Ideal. Ill just say right off the bat I am not a satified Ideal custumer which is why Ideal has credited me towards my next pruchase. Anyhow, I ordered 5 bbr and got 5 silver. One died in transit another two weeks later

. The three that remained were a girl and two boys. One boy earned the monicker "Brokeback" because his tail was so crooked.
I ordered Kraienkoppe because I'm looking for a breed to brood eggs under that is easy on the feed bill, who's egg production while broody will hardly be missed, is cold hardy, a good forager, quiet and calm, does well under confinment during our bitter cold Wisconsin winters, has ornamental utility, and is a protective mother. Therefore I wasn't in need of the males and they got eaten. What I didn't expect was all the meat these little birds carry for their small size. They have a long and deep keel bone so the breasts are relatively meaty. The hen lays an egg almost everyday and has been my best winter layer laying with no additional light source or heat all but the week between Christmas and new years. She lays off white eggs that are averaging 45 grams. She is my flightiest hen in flock right now but that isnt saying much cause everything else are heavy breeds and she is no where near as flighty as the leghorn hen i used to have. All in all I like Ideals silver kraienkoppe and would order them again.
