La Fleche Thread ~ PIC of my Black La Fleche

how u guys doing? ive been catching up on posts and was dissappointed that longhorn gave up on la fleche. i really like mine and i have 4 kids between 4 and 18 years. i had one roo that was aggressive, the rest have been ok. i would like to egg swap with someone, if interested.

my la fleche rooster mated w/my frizzle cochin hen that i used to have, so...i plan on breeding back to my la fleche. hmmm....... frizzled la fleche, kinda interesting tho...

My chicks are now five and a half weeks old . They still seem to have a lot of white feathers, though, but as Heritagehabitatfarms said, much less of them than a few weeks ago. They may not be good examples of the breed, but they are developing their interesting combs.

If they are really not worth breeding from as La Flèche per se I will breed with my Naked Necks.......that idea appeals to me.

Even if they end up with quite a lot of white, they won't be dog food (vegetarian) unless they fight. They will join my 'odd bods' who I am about to segregate off......which will consist of these 5 La Flèche, black Naked Necks, blue Naked Neck/Blue Partridge Brahma hybrids and a single white Naked Neck hybrid cockerel.. The results should be interesting at least....here's a few they will be housed with.

I will get some more La Flèche eggs if these chicks don't prove to be very good examples as well.

Found this thread and I'm looking to possibly get some, but I am wondering how they would handle the cold and being confined during the winter. Would love to see some live before I get them but I guess that's unlikely. Anyone know a breeder still working with them other than idea? Is Sandhill pretty good? And why did Longhorn get out of the La Fleche breeding? Is there some reason these are really hard to work with?

So does the La Fleche from Urch or Strombsberg pan out? On the "show quality" version of their chicks, has anyone purchased them and are they worth the extra money?

I love naked necks. I sold mine this summer and I really miss them. They lay a good sized brown egg and I hear they are a good meat bird too. I wonder what a lafleche/NN cross would look like??? And taste like????

I don't know anything about the breeders mentioned as I am in Wales, but I can vouch for them as chickens. I hatched mine 16 weeks ago. They are very fast movers, but I have actually found them to be relatively friendly (although they are renowned for being a bit flighty). They are truly excellent foragers and good flyers.

Here is the little chap pictured a few posts back now.

His white feathers have gone and he is crowing impressively

Here are some of the ladies.
